Either way I am looking to upgrade to FreeNAS 8 unless someone can convince me that another option is better. Right now I have identified 2 paths that I am looking at, each have downsides. The case has 6 HD slots, and 2 free 5.25' drive bays, with the option of removing the CD Drive if I need to. FreeNAS 7.2 is installed via a flashdrive. Current setup uses RAIDZ, and is ok, but I am planning on building a new vdev with more disks. Either way, based on that info I am avoiding them in this round of upgrades. I keep reading that WD Greens are bad in the ZFS thread due to 4k issues, but am unable to locate an adequate explanation why in that particular thread. The current PC has 6 SATAII ports on the mobo, with 3 currently occupied by 1TB WD Greens from awhile ago. I want to upgrade the whole array, and am debating several ideas based on what I've read on here. So I have a PC sitting around that I installed FreeNAS 7.2 on and I am quickly running out of space.
